CMS 2012 Changes and Revisions to the MDS 3.0

CMS has issued changes and revisions to the MDS 3.0 effective April 1, 2012. HCG consultant will be attending the CMS National Training Conference
in March and will develop our training materials based on this CMS intensive
training. CMS has planned the following changes and revisions to the
MDS 3.0 process:

• MDS 3.0 changes for April 2012
• Planned/unplanned discharge assessments
• Care area assessments and the care planning process
• Discharge planning as related to Section Q
• Therapy Assessment Changes

HCG has developed this Webinar to help Administrators, Director of Nurses and Members of the Interdisciplinary Team understand the MDS 3.0 revisions, correct coding of key MDS sections and strategies in documenting the Medical Record to validate MDS responses. This educational offering is being reviewed by the National Continuing Education Review Service (NCERS) of the National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB) and is pending approval for 2.0 clock hours.

Therapeutic Activity Training Program Part II

This program is designed to provide the Activity Professional with a solid foundation for completing the MDS 3.0 assessment, with emphasis on conducting the resident interviews, particularly where communication is challenged. This comprehensive review will also focus attention on completion of the Care Area Assessments and integration of assessment findings into the comprehensive care plan. A primary focus of this session is helping the Activity Professional to accomplish the core elements of person-centered care through the development of individualized activity plans that support quality of life and psychosocial well-being.
